This year's Venice International Film Festival has been officially kicked off on Wednesday, September 1 with the screening of "". "Black Swan", which is among 23 films vying for the Golden Lion that will be awarded September 11, is a supernatural thriller that follows a veteran ballerina named Nina who finds herself locked in a competitive situation with a rival dancer. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her. The movie will open in selected U.S. theaters on December 1.

"Machete", in the meantime, is a story of a Mexican ex-Federal agent with a gift for wielding a blade, who hides out as a day laborer and is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator. With the help of some friends, Machete braves the odds. This star-studded action thriller was first premiered on August 25 in Los Angeles and will entertain moviegoers in the nation starting September 3.
