Natalie Portman chose a floor-sweeping red number for the Venice Film Festival

Rodarte has gained quite the following for its cobwebby knits and dresses made from slashed tulle, but most starlets shy away from actually wearing the complicated creations. Which is why it's so exciting when we get to glimpse a Rodarte gown in the wild! Natalie Portman chose a floor-sweeping red number for the Venice Film Festival premiere of her latest movie, Black Swan. (The Mulleavy sisters also collaborated with Black Swan costume designer Amy Westcott on the film's ballet performance costumes.) The gown is relatively tame by Rodarte standards, but at least it has some of the brand's signature cutouts and layering.

Was this dress a good choice for Portman, or do you wish she had worn one of Rodarte's more dramatic looks?
