The kisses of Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher

New York, I Love you'.

Natalie Portman holds her own starring opposite Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal in the emotionally wrenching Brothers.

Natalie Portman: 'I'm Coming Into My Womanhood'

Natalie Portman holds her own starring opposite Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal in the emotionally wrenching Brothers. In the drama, she plays a wife and mother coping with the apparent loss of her military husband by bonding with his black-sheep brother.

Portman can next be seen making some fantastic moves as a prima ballerina in Black Swan, and she'll soon be sharing the set with the newest big-screen comic-book hero Thor. Parade.com's Jeanne Wolf found out why the 28-year-old star couldn't say no to playing a mom.

A role she's been waiting for.
"It was such a fantastic opportunity because so many parts written for females my age are just, like, the cute, girlish love interest. To get to play a real woman who's really strong and a good mother was really a great opportunity. It was not that challenging to be mother-ish because I have the most maternal mom in the world. So I've had a role model for my entire life."

See exclusive photos of Natalie Portman

Maybe she's getting closer to a family of her own.
"I feel like I'm coming into my womanhood, and I'm less afraid or maybe I'm just getting old. I think about having kids, but I think you can't plan for that sort of thing. It's not like you can work at it."

See photos of Young Hollywood Moms

But she wouldn't send her kids to war.
"I could not do it myself. But, I also think that in the world we live in, in certain countries, you can't not have an army. Obviously, I'm referring specifically to Israel. I think if Israel didn't have an army, it wouldn't exist. That's a hypothesis I really wouldn't want to test, like the Israelis going, 'OK, let's just try it out and not have an army and see what happens.'"

The women that soldiers leave behind.
"I talked to military wives who really gave me a sense of the strength that it takes to have your spouse fighting a war overseas. They have to be tough, too. I think that women are remarkably able to deal with bad times and just sort of take control when it needs to happen. They have a great survival mechanism. In the history of warfare, while the men were away, the women were taking care of everything at home. They show this incredible capacity to sort of rise to the occasion."

Now she's putting on a tutu.
"I'm in full ballet mode right now playing a ballerina in Black Swan. I danced until I was like 13, but I definitely remember being better than I am. I was like, 'Wow, I was pretty good as a kid.' Then I went into ballet class, and I was like, 'I'm not good at all. I really suck.' So it's been challenging."

Keeping her role in Thor, the next Marvel comics blockbuster, under wraps.
"I think everyone has gotten more secretive just because of the preponderance of technology that can scam just about anything. It's like you don't get a script anymore that doesn't have watermarks that would identify you if you ever tried to leak anything. The Thor script is hard to read because it's on some weird colored paper and they have your name in huge letters across every page. And any time you get a phone call from Marvel, it doesn't come up as a normal number, it's like a five digit code. I've never seen that before. I've had phone calls from people in the government and they don't have that. Marvel's like some like crazy underground world."

BROTHERS, NATALIE PORTMAN is cast as the mother of two children

portman

In director JIM SHERIDAN’S upcoming drama, BROTHERS, NATALIE PORTMAN is cast as the mother of two children. Watching it on screen, it doesn’t seem unrealistic but during recent interviews for the film, PORTMAN seemed to think that she was too young at 26 to have kids aged 6 and 8. She also intimated that SHERIDAN gave her a little physical ‘enhancement’ to achieve a motherly appearance. Listen in below: http://nataliaportman.blogspot.com/

Natalie Portman impressive in Gothan annual IFP

Natalie Portman about her rumored girl-on-girl love scene with Mila Kunis in "Black Swan

Sometimes you have to ask the tough questions. Questions for which the American public demands answers. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the greater good. Which is why, with these weighty journalistic notions on my conscious, I found myself asking Natalie Portman about her rumored girl-on-girl love scene with Mila Kunis in "Black Swan." http://nataliaportman.blogspot.com/

Directed by Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler"), "Black Swan" stars Portman and Kunis as rival ballet dancers, the twist being that Portman's character can't really tell if her competitor is real or some kind of delusion. Rumors have been floating around the web that, at some point during the film, Portman and Kunis will go in for a no-holds-barred sex session. I had to get to the bottom of this! Is it true, not true, none of our business?

"It's a very extreme movie," she answered. "It's like very extreme situations. But it's not explicit in any way."

Artfully, gracefully put, Miss Portman. And I'm going to take that non-denial denial as confirmation that there will indeed be a lesbian scene in "Black Swan." Of course, that'll just be one element—one sure-to-be highly publicized element—yet only one element in Aronofsky's first film since his Oscar-nominated "The Wrestler." Portman said she's due to start filming in early December, but could only offer a bare bones plot summary.

"It's a psychological thriller about what happens when you reach the top," she said. "My character starts being paranoid that she's going to be unseated."

What are you expecting from Aronofsky's "Wrestler" follow-up? More than a Kunis/Portman hook-up? Is it me, or does this sound like "Fight Club" with ballerinas?

Natalie Portman thinks movie premieres are like weddings.

http://nataliaportman.blogspot.com/

The ‘Brothers’ actress – who has been single since splitting from singer Devendra Banhart in September 2008 – isn’t worried about getting married because turning out for the debut of a new film gives her the same level of attention she would receive as a bride.

She explained: “It’s funny, some of my actress friends and I talk about how none of us have the big wedding obsession that other girls have and I think that’s because what girls experience on their wedding days happens a few times a year for us.

“Any time you go to a premiere, you get your hair and make-up done and everyone is looking at you. So when I’m not working, I want to be comfortable.”

When she isn’t involved with Hollywood Natalie admits her friends poke fun at her fashion sense.

The 28-year-old star added to Elle magazine: “My friends have been calling me a crazy cat lady recently because I’ve been wearing nut-s**t clothes that don’t really match. I like things that are comfy or funny - preferably both.”

With a new film (Brothers) to promote, Portman is making the requisite stops along the media highway, which includes sexy and stylish magazine shoots such as the one we’re featuring from Elle UK.

Kudos to Slijper and stylist Sasa Thomann because Portman looks sensational here – the word ’smoldering’ comes to mind. In fact, many choice words to describe Portman come to mind while browsing the layout, which StyleCrave implores you to check out after the jump.
